- Individuals and families seeking access to homeless services can call the DC Shelter Hotline at (202) 399-7093 or 311 at any time of the day or night.
- A searchable list of local shelters can be found online here.
- All low-barrier shelters, family shelters, and shelters serving youth will remain open, including but not limited to the following:
- Covenant House - 2001 Mississippi Ave SE, 202-610-9600
- Central Union Mission - 65 Massachusetts Ave NW, 202-745-7118
- DC Coalition for the Homeless - 202-347-8870
- Zoe’s Doors Youth Drop-In center located at 900 Rhode Island Ave NE will remain open as well as the Sasha Bruce Youth Drop-In Center at 741 8th St SE
SOME
- Clothing is available in emergencies only by visiting the front desk between 8-10 AM
- Shower facilities will be open daily for men from 6-9:30 AM and for women from 9:45-11 AM. If you require special accommodations, please speak with a staff member. The waiting room will be available for use by shower patrons only.
- Addictions treatment operating as usual

- 24/7 medical care available for individuals experiencing homelessness
- A staff of physicians, nurses and nursing assistants are prepared to perform tests, change dressings and provide vaccinations. Even during the pandemic, the staff is prepared to admit new patients.

DC Cooling Centers

Select DC Recreation Centers and DC Public Schools are open to the public and places you can go to beat the heat. For more information on where to go, call 311 or text 311 to 32311.
Transportation to Cooling Centers: Hot and humid conditions can cause medical problems such as heat exhaustion and stroke. If you or someone you know needs transportation to a cooling center, call the hyperthermia hotline at 202-399-7093.
Safety at Cooling Sites: Due to COVID-19, upon entry at cooling sites, residents will be offered a mask which individuals will be required to wear for the entire time they are in the cooling site. Individuals will be directed to an open seat that is marked off with tape to indicate required social distancing measures.
